Död: | 2016-03-28 Amerika. | Lennart Bjorck Lennart Bjorck was born in Stockholm, Sweden, in January 1925 to Alfred and Lilly Bjorck. Professionally, he followed his fathers' footsteps but left Sweden to work in the motion picture business in the USA where he became a citizen. His first job was as General Manager for Paramount Pictures in Puerto Rico in 1947, where he married Grete Aarbol in 1950. Shortly after they moved to Chile and then to Peru where they spent the next 14 years. They had three children in Peru, before leaving in 1964 for Tokyo, Japan where Lennart worked for Columbia Pictures. In 1967, a single year followed in Madrid, Spain, where Lennart worked for Cinerama before again moving his family to Paris, France, where he worked for Avco Embassy for six happy years. In 1973 Lennart, Grete and Liselotte moved to Stockholm, Sweden, for two years where he decided to work for himself, having gained a meaningful perspective in the independent film business. Lennart then moved to Los Angeles, where in 1975 he formed his own company, Bjorck Film Corporation, a pioneering film company representing international distributors. Lennart created the bridge that was needed culturally and the timing was right as the indie business was in its nascent form. Together with his son and partner, Lars Bjorck, they became an important part of the business in Los Angeles. Lennart spoke five languages; Swedish, English, Spanish, German and French and was an avid reader, enjoying being au-courant with global affairs and keeping up with current trends. During the last 20 years he truly enjoyed living in his beloved Morro Bay where he enjoyed gardening, cooking and traveling with Grete visiting family and friends. Lennart left us on March 28, 2016. May Lennart rest in peace with his beloved soul mate Grete and his daughter, Anne Marie. He is survived by his two children, Lars Ole and Liselotte; four grandchildren, Camilla, Miro, Listel and Kaj and one great-grandchild, Clarke-Greta. Lennart loved life, a true "bon vivant." He will be missed and remembered with love and affection by many. Published in San Luis Obispo Tribune on Apr. 17, 2016 |
